Time for a new Subaru -- December 2012

Recently, my 1999 subaru outback started spewing smoke from the engine. I pulled over, and almost immediately someone else pulled over to help (gotta love Utah!). A tube to my radiator had torn, so it looked like I needed to get that part replaced. Unfortunately, the mechanics had me replace the entire radiator, which I did for about $400, and then two days later it started over heating again. I pulled over and had it towed back to the shop. They said the head gasket was partially blown and needed to be repaired for a cost of about $200 in parts and $2300 in labor. So, it looks like in addition to a new house this month, I will also be getting a new subaru!

Officially bought a house! 12/18/12

After many years of living in one bedroom apartments and a van, we have finally bought a house! We love the location -- close to the mouth of little cottonwood canyon and 0.25 miles from Granite park. So, there is plenty of climbing, mt. biking and skiing near by. It has valley/city views from the front and mt. views from the back. There is also a river and a water tank on the property. There are lots of guest rooms, and Ken has started a house guest calendar, so contact him to book your free room!!

The official closing day also coincided with my Mom's birthday -- Happy Birthday Mom! Also, it was the day after my brother had a baby! -- Happy Birthday Jake! There is a lot of celebration this month for my family!! :)

Snowshoeing at Snowbird, 12/8/12

Snowshoeing with Carol and an SDBC job applicant Giselle. Roads were pretty bad, so we were lucky that Carol offered to drive -- she had AWD and snow tires and we were still slipping! I guess the road signs are serious when they advise 4x4 and chains. Coming from Michigan, Giselle did a great job of snow-shoeing at 9,000 feet! :)
